Events & participation

LavaBot events turn one-off gatherings into a lasting record: members RSVP, the bot tracks who actually showed up, and repeat attendance becomes recognition roles, badges and a leaderboard.

Create an event: !event create (or /event create) opens a short form: title, when (e.g. 2h, 1d12h, or 2026-07-05 20:00), duration, and type + place (voice #Lounge, text #chat, or external <place>). LavaBot posts an announcement with Going / Maybe / Can't buttons and sends reminders (24h, 1h, at start by default) to everyone who RSVP'd going.

Real attendance, not just a click: an RSVP is a promise; presence is measured during the event:

  • Voice events: time spent in the event's voice channel (default: at least 10 minutes).
  • Text events: a check-in button that appears while the event is live, and/or a message threshold in the channel (admin picks checkin, messages, or both).
  • External events: staff confirm attendees with !event confirm <id> @a @b.

Recognition: every confirmed attendance adds to a member's participation tally. Reaching configurable thresholds unlocks tiers (Newcomer / Regular / Veteran / Legend by default) with optional roles and badges, and attendance can grant levelling XP so events feed your server's activity instead of being a separate track. Members check their standing with !participation; the server ranking is !event leaderboard.

No-shows are never exposed: the closing recap celebrates only the people who came. Who didn't show is never posted.

Admin setup: enable and tune everything with !eventsconfig (enable, announcement channel, XP per event, levelling on/off, text presence mode, thresholds) or on the dashboard under Events. Events are disabled until an admin turns them on.
